Summer can be a challenging season to dress for many women. You reveal
more about yourself and your body than in any other season and have fewer
layering tricks at your disposal to either cover up certain parts or create a
nice silhouette. It’s also harder to create a ‘new’ look every day,
since you can’t really play too much with jackets, layers and scarves. In
summer you need to be even smarter with the types of clothes you choose when
you want to cover up certain areas. I personally don’t believe in using shape
wear too much as it’s far too hot and uncomfortable. Instead choose smart tops,
skirts and dresses that drape in all the right areas to cover up any
bulges. Asymmetric dresses and tops are usually very good at doing
that. White is your best friend in summer and is the most versatile colour
to wear. Combine with almost every colour and pattern in your closet for a
clean, modern look. Bodybasics offers you a wide range of comfort clothes to
beat the heat this summer.
Since the temperatures are soaring in every part of our country this
summer, let us check some tips for dressing for this season.
Keep your clothes loose. The
looser, the better. The less fabric you have actually touching your body, the
cooler you will be. Believe it or not, a loose & flowing dress will keep
you cooler than a pair of shorts & a skin tight tank.
Avoid flimsy fabrics if you don't want your clothes to stick
to your body. Lightweight
fabrics are great for hot weather, but they need to have a little structure so
that they don't just cling to your body the second you start to sweat.
Choose clothes in natural fabrics. Cotton,
for instance, is much more breathable than polyester or rayon. It's also better
at absorbing sweat and dries faster, which means you won't feel sweaty as long
as you would if your clothes were made of synthetic fabric.
Stick to light colours. Dark colours
absorb light and make you that much hotter while light colours reflect light
and help keep you cool. So go for light colours.
Make sure your clothes are fresh and clean. Never rewear
your clothes between washes during summers as even light wear leaves dirt,
sweat, skin cells etc trapped in the fibers of your clothes, which makes them less breathable and you hotter.
Whenever you go out wear a wide-brimmed hat or carry a
lightweight, woven scarf in your bag. Drape
the scarf over your shoulders or head whenever you go out in the sun, it
definitely protects you from the scorching sun.
Keep your hair off your neck. A small
cotton scarf is great for absorbing sweat, use it to tie your hair up. For an
extra cooling effect, soak it in some cold water before you put it on.
